Midi on DVC 3
Midi on DVC 3
Hi, how does the midi functionality work? I tried to allocate a dimmer fader to midi output to BCF-2000, but the result is just on/off like with DVC 2. Has anyone tested DVC 3 with midi?

Hi,
I have also a question to use the midi function: I use an Elation Midicon. The scenes and the dimmer and speed faders I could link with the Midicon. But if I tried to link a fader from a DMX channel via Midi it does not work. I have clicked under the fader and set modus to MIDI and insert in the menu the MIDI-channel data.
Maybe I forget something.
Sincerly
Florian
P.S.: in the new beta from 26/01/2012 the midi faders even do not work.

Right click the scene and select "Enable Dimmer Fader"
Right click the dimmer fader, then move the fader on your BCF
I've just tested it with my BCF and it's working fine
I do not have my BCF at hand at the moment, but I am working on a show. Therefore my question: Does or will DVC3 also support the 4 encoder groups of BCF-2000?

I have looked a bit more deeply into the midi functionality. One reason is to control MHs in small live shows (dances & comedy).
I am not too familiar with the midi protocol and not sure, if my problems come for DVC3 or the midi device (BCF-2000):
Particularly from preset 3 onwards some encoder wheels do not accept new values for DVC3 (in my case wheel 7 in preset 3). Sometimes – although allocated correctly – other functions become activated also when I move a fader or wheel. I also get confusing responses from the encoder groups 2-4. I had thought that the factory presets become overwritten, but this may not be the case.
Who can help?

Let me explain thew problem with a sample for BCF-2000:
I have activated an Eurolite LED Bar on Preset1, Push button 7, and the speed on wheel 7 (all enc group 1). It works. Code is 0*7*68.
Then I moved to Preset 3 and activated on slider 1 the PAN for my MH. The code is again 0*7*68, and with the PAN consequently the speed of the Eurolite bar changes also.
This happens with some controls, but not with all.
What is wrong or have I done wrong?

check what MIDI values are being output form your BCF when you use the different encoder groups. Use some midi monitoring software to check. It sounds like your controller is outputting the same values.

To activate MIDI on an output fader, select the output mode settings window and then move the MIDI fader on your console to learn the command
There is no MIDI feedback in DVC3.
