Hello!
Let me try to explain this so it is understandable.
Let's say I have some scenes in Bank 1 with a selection of fixed colors for some lights, as in scenes that only control the dimmer and the color of those lights, red, blue, green etc. In the same bank, I have a scene with a sparkle effect that makes the lights flash white.
I was wondering if it's possible to play the sparkle scene on top of a color scene, but in a way that the color scene is not showing. I was thinking that the sparkle scene had flash mode enabled. I then want the lights to go back to the previous color scene it had before the sparkle scene was enabled.
I have tried messing with the priority settings and the release settings but with no luck.
Kind regards,
Magnus
Playing 2 scenes at the same time in Live
Re: Playing 2 scenes at the same time in Live
Hey Magnus,
From what I understand- this should work exactly as you described simply by creating the two scenes in separate banks and triggering them individually... Perhaps I am misunderstanding something? Please see the video below demonstrating two different outcomes- 1 of a Colour FX sparkle which takes over the initial static colour, and 1 of a Value FX sparkle which works with the static colour. Perhaps this will help, or maybe there is something that you are doing/seeing that I am not:

Since the scenes are in 2 separate banks and both have a standard release mode, they can both play simultaneously so that when you release the sparkle- the static scene is still active and will resume immediately.
Kind regards,
Will

Re: Playing 2 scenes at the same time in Live
Hi Will, thanks for your reply. I am now able to run the show the way i like.
Something interesting i noticed was that if I created a sparkle scene under Color FX, the lights had a small fade on them. As if Grayscale was enabled even though it was disabled. But if I created a sparkle effect as a Strobe under Curve FX, I had no fade in the scene. But then i had to add the RGB values under Features. If this was not added to features, and only the Dimmer and White, the previous color scene was still taking part in the show.
Am i misunderstanding what a sparkle effect is? Anyway, thanks for your help!
Kind regards,
Magnus

Re: Playing 2 scenes at the same time in Live
Hey Magnus,
The sparkle effect in Colour FX and Value FX does indeed have a slight fade in there, this is just part of the FX engine itself. The Strobe function in the Curve FX is entirely separate, so naturally it will appear differently. I suppose these are two separate ways of making a similar 'sparkle' effect, but the fine details will differ slightly- so it's just down to preference really! Another potential option you could try is using the 'Random chaser' mode on the 'Chaser FX' scene type. Again- allows for a slightly different type of 'sparkle' that can achieve a different end result.
Kind regards,
Will
