Hi Folkz,
General info about my set up...
I got gzm and gold running sometimes through DMX output directly, sometimes through artnet and switches. DS5 is running on windows and an acer nitro with a lot of power. I only run DS5, wolfmix, L8, MA3 on it. And a few mixing and media software applications. (Ok, only might be the wrong word then).
Nevertheless...
...many times the DS5 software crashes when using my akai apc minis. It seems, the crash occures when pressing and fading too fast on the midi board.
Usually i only have one apc in use. But i have three in total. Even when exchanging the midi controller and using an other, i have the same issues, so... i dont think the apcs are broken, as i can use them for samplings and synthesizer without any problem on other software.
Question: is there any better midi board on the market to use with DS5, something nicolaudi would recommend as a good or best solution?
Or should it work well with akai mpc minis and i need to search for the problem to solve it? If so, any hints i could start with?
Kind regards,
Sebastien

Re: What Midi controller to use?
Hi Sebastien,
Thanks for your post! I would generally say that APC Mini's should work pretty flawlessly with Daslight 5, so there is something not quite right here. It would be great if you could confirm the following information:
- If you only run Daslight 5 (no other software)- are you able to reproduce the behaviour with just 1 MIDI controller? Are you able to reproduce the behaviour with 2, and/or with 3 MIDI controllers connected?
- Are you using the DVC Gold and GZM at the same time? Are you able to reproduce the behaviour with just 1 device connected?
- Is there a certain other application that needs to be open in order for the crashing to occur?
- You appear to have quite a lot of elements going on in your setup (multiple DMX devices, multiple MIDI devices, other softwares with potential network/MIDI connection capabilities. I think the best way to start diagnosing the specific cause is to start with the most basic setup, then build up until you are able to consistently crash the software.
If you could please take the full text found in the crash report, add it to an empty TextEdit project, then send us this crash report- I will be able to send this over to the developers to look into. It would also be helpful to know exactly what your setup is at the time of the crash, including your specific OS version, devices connected, software open etc.
Kind regards,
Will

Re: What Midi controller to use?
Hi again Sebastien,
Just wanted to mention one further thing regarding this, as I recall there being a particular issue with MIDI controllers sending lots of signals (i.e. rapidly moving the faders) whilst also being connected to an Art-Net device. Perhaps this is where the cause of your issue lies, so it's worth checking with Art-Net output set up and without to see if this is the culprit!
Kind regards,
Will

Thanks for your reply,
I didnt find time yet to replicate, but, your mention seems to fit, as I usually go with artnet!
So, is there any solution for it?
Thanks in advance

Re: What Midi controller to use?
Hello,
No worries at all! This issue should hopefully be fixed in the next update, which we are working hard to make available ASAP. It would be great to keep an eye on this forum for the next Beta announcement so that you can test this out then and see if the problem is fixed for you or not!
Kind regards,
Will
