DasLight 5 Beta 1 - Beat Division Midi / Keyboard Mapping

Post by RobinRichter »

Hello,

please please make it possible to map the Beat Divison (x2) or (/2) Keys to Midi or Shortcuts on the Keyboard! so that you can change the beat division up or down directly with one click without a mouse

That will be fantastic!

Thank you!

It's 2024 and there is no answer regarding the possibility to midi-map the beat division (/2,x2) buttons..

Is there a way to contact daslight to ask of this will be implemented in the future?
Because I use this buttons a lot during live-shows...

Hi,
I know it's not the same, but you can simply map the scene's speed fader to a fader/encoder. If the trigger is set to BPM in the scene, you can change the division using it.

Hello,

I am interested to hear that this button is being used in a Live context, as this is not entirely how it was intended to be used! The reason for this is that this particular function simply wasn't designed for live usage- however the Speed dial is, as mentioned above, probably the best solution to this.

As mentioned- when using the BPM driving mode, the Speed dial converts from numeric value to multiples. This means that you have a few options for controlling the speed of a BPM scene:

Using a fader/dial:
- Map the fader/dial to the Speed parameter, allowing you to adjust the speed whilst keeping the synchronisation intact.

Using a button:
This can be done in a few different ways. You can:
- Have a specific button for each specific value (i.e. one button for x2 speed, one for x4 speed, one for /2 speed, etc.).
- Have a specific button to increase the speed incrementally, and another to decrease the speed incrementally.

The good thing about these mappings is that you can set them up in a few different ways depending on how you like to work. For example:
- You can map the fader/dial/button to the exact scene Speed dial(s)
or
- You can map the fader/dial/button so that it controls the Speed dial of whatever scene you have selected

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Will

Thnx Will for your answer.

I'm gonna test out the speed dial option and see how that influences the BPM-Speed.
