Hey Guys,
I've been using Daslight and I've come across somethings.
Some are bugs and other stuff I just need answers to.
Please note that I've encountered these problems on multiple workstations using the latest update.
EasyView Crahes when duplicating object folders and not
when duplicating objects or fixtures individualy.
Easyview crahes (runtime error window) when it is
started without DVC2 running.
Easyview Save button is disabled when in construction mode.
Grid alignment in easyview is relative to the window
size. PITA when your working with a large stage and plot.
Undocking view windows in Easyview to allow placing
them on multiple screens.
No Color, Position, and Gobo palettes...?????
Plenty of missing Gobos in SGM Giotto Fixtures.
Laser beams dont look like lasers at all. Most (Eurotech)
lasers wont respond to position and movement commands.
No Submasters or Grand Master.
Fixtures (DLED36-6CH) will still show beam even when the
Intensity fader is at 0 but when intensity is set around
8-10% the fixture goes black.
No hot keys/keyboard commands for basic functions such as Lamp on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Bryan
I needs help.
EasyView Crahes when duplicating object folders...
You're right, I don't think anybody has found that in the 4 years easyview 2006 has been out. It should be fixed in the next release.
Easyview crahes (runtime error window) when it is

This is because you have to have daslight running. This will be replaced with a more friendly message at some point.
Easyview Save button is disabled when in construction mode.
I think this is because certain modifications are not saved until a fixture has been de-selected, I will check this.
Grid alignment in easyview is relative to the window size.
I don't understand the problem here..
Undocking view windows in Easyview to allow placing them on multiple screens.
Yes this would be useful. You can already undock the settings window. For now you could drag the main window ovewr 2 screens and resize the view windows.
No Color, Position, and Gobo palettes...?????
No. Not for Daslight. If you want advanced functions like these you should be using Sunlite.
Plenty of missing Gobos in SGM Giotto Fixtures.
When DVC3 is released, it will support the SSL2 fixture profile format which alllows creation/import custom gobo images.
Laser beams dont look like lasers at all. Most (Eurotech) lasers wont respond to position and movement commands.
None of the software fully supports lasers. We are currently working on a new tool for laser control.
No Submasters or Grand Master.
This will be in DVC3
Fixtures (DLED36-6CH) will still show beam even when the Intensity fader is at
This is because when a channel value is 0, Daslight regard the channel as being OFF. In DVC3 this will be changed to an OFF channel state as it is not ideal the way it is at the moment.
No hot keys/keyboard commands for basic functions such as Lamp on.
You can set this within the shortcuts window.
Thanks Simon,
Im actually in a jam right now,
Easyview wont open no matter what I do.
It keeps giving me a Runtime error window. I had this problem before on another work station and had to reinstall dvc and easyview to able to run easyview again.
Any thoughts?
Also,
Will DVC3 be able to render laser beams to, you know, look like lasers?
Thanks,
Bryan

The 3D visualiser and DVC are seperate applications. We are currently not developing the 3D visualiser as we are focusing our efforts on DVC3 and other software tools, so it will eb a while before the feature to render laser beams will be added.
Regarding the bug:
-What is the runtime error you get?
-Does it happen both when you start easyview on its own and through the link in Daslight?

I get the window very simliar to this
http://fixexe.com/pictures/runtime-error.jpg
and also this one
http://www.registrycleanersandfixes.com ... -error.jpg
When I click detail its says easyview and dasword.dll are conflicting. I ended up having to reinstall after two days of trying to get it to work. It would crash regardless of which is open first and what show and stage file was loaded.
Thats the third time this has happened and it always starts after Easyview crashes the first time.
Also another bug I failed to mention. Easyview likes to crash when I select multiple fixtures and right click and select "add selected to a new folder."
Again I've had these problems on multiple workstations.
TBH I have Sunlite at work and none of us like it. Its render engine sucks, even tho its the same as Daslight. for some reason Daslight is better and easier to render and program in and we all agree.
