Midicon Pro encoder MIDI mapping

Post by Esparoba2 »

Hi,

Recently i decided to make the change from Lumidesk to Daslight 4. I am very happy with the change, the workflow, interface and functions of DVC4 are superb compared to my experience with other control software.
However, i have found just one problem which i am not able to fix. I own a Elation Midicon Pro lighting desk, every fader and button works flawlessly. Except for the four encoders. After some testing and analyzing the MIDI behavior is have concluded the following:

I would like to use these encoders as faders. For lighting functions such as gobo's or colors. Meaning that they wil have to output a MIDI value between 0 and 127 on, let's say, MIDI channel 1. The faders on the controller do this since their value is based on there physical position. However, the encoders work differently.
They use two MIDI channels which can send out 1 specific value each.
For example: encoder 1 sends out channel 113 with value 127 when turned counterclockwise and sends out channel 114 with value 127 when turned clockwise. Also these value's both "stick" when the encoder is no longer operated.
Mapping an encoder to a virtual fader (say, DMX channel 1) causes this fader to get pinned on DMX value 255, unable to be set to a different value using the controller. This behavior essentially causes the encoders to behave like sticky buttons.

Elation has a tool to remap the entire controller. However, remapping the encoders to work like the faders is not an option.
Is there a way in DVC4 to make the encoders usable under with this MIDI behavior?
If some testing for extra information is required, i'm happy to help out!

Thanks!

Hi Esparoba2, I think I have already replied to you about this via email. Glad you're enjoying using Daslight 4.

Unfortuately it's not possible to use the Elation Midicon Pro encoders with Daslight. The Midicon was designed to be used fully with our sister software Sunlite Suite 2 and encoders will not function with Daslight and we have no plans to implement anything in the further at this stage.
