I'm using Dashlight 4 and have programmed many scenes with moving heads and other lights. Now I'm replacing some fixtures, but the new ones have a different DMX channel structure. For example:
- My old moving head has RGB on channels 1, 2, and 3.
- My new moving head has RGB on channels 5, 6, and 7.
I want my existing scenes to control the new lights without having to reprogram everything manually. Is there a way in Dashlight 4 to remap DMX channels when swapping fixtures? Or is this handled better in Dashlight 5?
I’d really appreciate any tips or solutions!

Re: How to swap fixtures without losing scenes in Dashlight 4?
I've looked into this as well, and from what I can tell, there’s no built-in way to remap DMX channels in Dashlight 4. Once a scene is programmed, it seems locked to the original fixture’s channel layout.
The only option I see is manually reprogramming everything or maybe using an external DMX remapper, but that’s not really practical.
Unless someone has found a workaround, I think we’re stuck with this limitation...

In Dashlight 4, there’s no automatic DMX remapping when replacing fixtures. You can:
Manually edit scenes: Go to Scene Editor and reassign old RGB channels to new ones.
Create a custom fixture: Use Scan Library Editor to adjust DMX channels.
Use external software/hardware: Tools like DMX Merge or Art-Net remapping can help.
Dashlight 5 makes remapping easier. poor bunny If you swap fixtures often, consider upgrading!

Hi EduardoHelm,
Thanks a lot for your detailed response! That really clarifies things. I’ll try manually reassigning the channels in the Scene Editor and also look into creating a custom fixture in Scan Library Editor. Good to know that Daslight 5 has improved remapping—might be worth considering an upgrade in the long run.
Appreciate your help!
