Dear ones, I'm using daslight 5 for the lights of a theater comedy, I'm testing the show to do it entirely with your program without an external console.
I'm currently having difficulty setting a transition between the various scenes, what I want is that when a scene is activated (which may or may not have a fade in time) the previously active scene is deactivated at the same time with the set fade out times .
Let me explain better:
Scene1:
par1/2: 100%
par3/4: 50%
Scene 2:
par1/2:50%
par3/4: 100%.
If I'm on scene 1 and activate scene 2, I want par1/2 to go from 100 to 50 and par 3/4 from 50 to 100 at the same time.
Currently, the fade out of scene 1 only starts when the fade in of scene 2 is finished. should leave together. how can I solve it?
I cannot use a step or a superscene as each single scene is recalled from an external cuelist software via midi-.
Smooth crossfade between scenes
Re: Smooth crossfade between scenes
Hello,
It is true that in Daslight 5, scenes fade out after the other scene has faded in- however in your example, I do not see an issue...
If Scene 2 has par 1/2 at 50% and par 3/4 at 100% - this has already been achieved when the scene has faded in. Once Scene 2 is active and Scene 1 begins fading out, nothing new is happening because Scene 2 is taking priority over scene 1 - so you will see par 1/2 at 50% and par 3/4 at 100% (even whilst Scene 1 is fading out).
Perhaps the option here is to not use Fade out at all? So that your scenes are fading in, then once that is complete the old scene will stop immediately. This will work as long as you set any fixtures not included in Scene 2 to dimmer value of 0%, so then they will fade out during the scenes fade in (rather than just turn off immediately).
Kind regards,
Will

Re: Smooth crossfade between scenes
thanks so much for the reply!
But that's not exactly what I meant, I'll give another more faithful example.
Scene 1:
par 1: 100%
par 2: 100%
par 3: 0%
par 4: 0%
fades in 2 sec
fade out 2 sec
Scene 2:
par 1: 0%
par 2: 0%
par 3: 100%
par 4: 100%
fades in 2 sec
fade out 2 sec
If I go from scene 1 to scene 2, what currently happens is that pars 3 and 4 light up in 2 seconds and only when these are on do pars 1 and 2 turn off in 2 seconds.
What I want is that when I go from scene 1 to scene 2, at the same time pars 1 and 2 go down to 0 and 3 and 4 go to 100.
As it would work on any physical lighting console

Scene 2:

Re: Smooth crossfade between scenes
Hello,
I am able to replicate the behaviour described, but I am also able to fix this by ensuring that whenever a fixture is at 0%, it is not just 'disabled' but actually has the Dimmer and Colour channels active, just at 0%. Please see the video below to demonstrate. You will notice that this way, I can even turn off the fade out to achieve the same result.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Wn5Sh0 ... sp=sharing
I will note that there may be instances where this is not a suitable solution, but it could be a start to at least helping with the issue.
The reason that our software operates in this way is so that we can more accurately fade whilst FX scenes are playing. Whether it is possible to achieve a true 'crossfade', I am not certain- but I will log this as a suggestion for future updates!
Kind regards,
Will

Re: Smooth crossfade between scenes
Thanks so much for the help and the video.
I temporarily solved the problem and decided to proceed with building our future shows with daslight anyway.
Don't underestimate the idea of inserting this crossfade control between scenes, this is really useful for classic, simple and complex stage shows.
I have tried all the software of this type that is out there and this is the most complete and easiest of all, with a few more additions it can become a real virtual console!

Re: Smooth crossfade between scenes
Hello,
I started a topic on the same topic yesterday, sorry.
I would also be very happy if this option 'release on scenes START' (before the fade in) would be possible.
This is very often the case in classic theater applications.
And while you're at it... an optional waiting time BEFORE the fade in would be brilliant.
This would allow a beautifully timed scene transition with ONE click.
example:
scene 1 activ
click on scene 2
scene 1 fades out 6 seconds
at the same time: scene 2 waits 3 seconds, then fades in with 4 seconds
My show should start in April :=))
Thank You for thinking of it. :=)
best regards, Roland
