so I loaded a daylight 4 show file into daylight 5 and a lot of my fixtures the fixture index #'s are 0 and its making programing horrific. is there any way to change the index number of a fixture already patched and programed? I've tried renaming it but it won't let me change the index number and I've also tried deleting and repatching it but I loose all the positions and settings of those fixtures in all my scenes. is there somewhere I can edit the fixture index #?
Also Is there a way to make the software fixtures indexed bases where if you change a fixture with another fixture you can keep the pan and tilt. color and gobo settings? its really annoying to program half my show and then realize the fixture profile they have in the software is wrong and I have to go in and edit it in profile builder then delete all my old fixtures and patch the new fixture profile and reprogram all those lights in all my scenes. And before you suggest it I have tried it with refreshing the library and update the fixture profile but 80% of the time it says Problem during the update.

Re: Fixture index number issue
In my experience, "updating" fixture profiles only works if the beam configuration or DMX channel counts are not changed. If you change either, DL doesn't know how to map the old settings to the new fixture and it will give the error you mentioned. The way that I avoid this problem in my system is to create a test project in which I import each fixture and experiment with it thoroughly to make sure that everything is 100% solid (especially beam configurations and channel counts) before bringing it into my main project.
I have not attempted to migrate anything from older DL versions, but I figured I'd share my process in case it's helpful to you or anyone else.
