Simple setup: 4 movers. I have a scene button to move them into a position as a "dark move". It runs once and holds at end. I have a second scene button to turn them on. And (as in the tutorial videos) a "reset all" button that turns everything off by having "All" as release mode. This is what happens:
Press "Dark move" button
Press "Lights on" button
Seems ok (see "before" image)
Press "Reset All"
Lights remain on though movers face forward (see "after" image)
Unless I'm badly misunderstanding how these things work, this seems utterly borked.
ETA tried to attach a minimal repro DVC file but the forum wouldn't allow it
This works in version 4 - the lights correctly turn off and the movers return to the default position. So I think I am correct in assuming 5 is fundamentally broken, unless someone can tell me what I've done wrong?
An update. Had a bit of to-and-fro with the tech supp folk, and have unearthed at least one issue, which they call a "feature" but even if it wasn't a bug (and I think it is), is undocumented. Which is naughty.
Here's the issue: as suspected, the effects of clicking a scene button on the live / edit screen is not the same as if you have a key or MIDI binding for that button. When you select a scene with the mouse it can only be completely cancelled by clicking another scene with the mouse. If you trigger the second scene with a key (or MIDI), the first scene doesn't (completely) stop. You can tell that the scene has "priority" (that's what they called it though it's unrelated to the scene priority setting) because it has a solid rectangle on the right when it's playing.
I have asked Nicolaudie to review this "feature" because triggering a scene should have identical effects no matter how it happens. Or at least have a setting to toggle the behaviour. I hope this is the last issue I find because our show is on the 20th! Meanwhile: the work-around is that the "Stop All" scene (which has the "All" release) should be selected by the mouse at the start of the show, and then everything else can be triggered by MIDI. That's the theory, let's see how well that works over the weekend...
I am afraid I am not following exactly what the issue here is, but I'm fairly certain we can find a solution here. Could you possible send over a Google Drive or Drobox link with the following:
- The .dvc file
- A screen recording demonstrating the issue
I have just taken a quick look at the video you attached on that ticket and I believe I know the issue here. It seems that you are in Edit mode, rather than in Live mode. When in Edit mode, you are always going to see a 'preview' of whatever scene is currently selected even if the scene is not playing. This is so that when editing, you don't need to have the scene actually playing in order to test out and program your scenes.
When in Live mode, you are only going to see output from the scenes that are currently playing. If you bring up the control panel, then press the 'Live' button found immediately right of where the green 'Edit' button is- then this will ensure that the scenes completely release when you stop a scene.
