Hi there! Im Kam, I've been using Daslight for maybe 10 years on and off. I am back on Daslight 5 and I am loving the upgrades.
I currently have a rig with several moving heads in different places. I have set up groups to correspond with each clusters location. (One for top row lights, middle row, etc.)
I have set up my bank categories to Beam, Movement, Colors, Gobo, etc. I was really hoping I could individually control the clusters of moving heads via the group function, but if I select a group and for example choose Blues as a color from the bank, the entire rig turns blue instead of a group.
Is there a way to be able to apply a scene towards a specific group while in live?
Help with groups
Re: Help with groups
I have some photos to try and help.
In this example, I select the Middle Row group
I want only the Middle Row to be red, and the rest to stay on blue. Selecting the Middle Row lights, and then hitting red from my color bank causes the whole rig to turn red.
Is there a way to apply a scene only towards the lights that are selected? And if not, can we I would heavily love to request this feature.

Re: Help with groups
Hello!
Unfortunately this is not something that is possible to do, since scenes in Daslight are set up with fixture/beam assignments already set. In your case, you have a number of static scenes which are assigned to all beams and set all beams to a specific colour. There are 2 potential workarounds that I can think of which you might find useful:
1) Set up a custom Touch interface.
In the Touch tab, you can set up a custom UI for triggering scenes. Here, you could set up something like the image below where I have 4 Banks of scenes- 1 for All fixtures, one for the Top fixtures, one for the Middle fixtures, and one for the Bottom fixtures. Here I have individual colour scenes for each Bank and this is all assigned within the Touch window. I can use the Touch window to trigger the scenes directly from the computer, or from the Daslight Remote app using a tablet or mobile device. If you like, you can also hide some of the Banks in order to not clog up more of the Control screen.
2) Trigger the colour changes as Live Edits, rather than scenes.
In the example below, I have a scene which turns the Dimmer channel for all beams to full, and I also have a few colour options set as 'Favourites' (see below the colour picker). I can now control this via the following steps:
- Go into Live mode
- Trigger the Dimmer On scene
- Select the group of fixtures I want to affect (in this case, I have mapped each Group to a keyboard shortcut- so 'a' = All, 't' = Top, 'm' = Middle and 'b' = Bottom).
- Trigger the colour from the Favourites palette below the colour picker.
- I can then reset All live edits or just the ones on the Selected beams via the buttons in the toolbar above the colour picker.
Hopefully this helps! I have also attached the .dvc file below for you to check yourself and see how it all works.
Kind regards,
Will
