Control Dashlight 5 using Behringer x-touch compact
Control Dashlight 5 using Behringer x-touch compact
Hi y'all,
Can I use a Behringer x-touch compact to control Dashlight on Macos? And can I also create pages for different buttons for different actions in my MIDI controller?
Kind regards

Hey
I use the large X-Touch with Daslight.
But I say, it only works really well with an additional tool.
Then theoretically several pages are possible.
best regards

Bome Midi Translator Pro
https://www.bome.com/products/miditranslator
In my opinion, an absolutely brilliant tool for daslight. Basically this software is a midi router, virtual midi port and midi translator. you can create virtual MIDI ports. Route/assign them freely. Convert MIDI commands into keystrokes and vice versa. I'll upload a little video of what I look like.

Thanks!
I unfortunately cannot see the video, could you maybe try it again or maybe try to upload an hidden video to youtube and pasting the link?
Kind Regards
Re: Control Dashlight 5 using Behringer x-touch compact
And, is it maybe possible to link faders?
For example: one of my faders is a main (dimmer) fader. When I turn on my scene fader, is it possible that my master (dimmer) fader moves along especially because the Touch-X has motorized faders?

Woah, thats cool! Are your motorized faders working?
Can you maybe create an video where you kinda use it? If you want to, of course.
Kind regards

The show file isn't finished yet, but I think you can see where it's headed
At the beginning I just switch on the X-Touch and start the BOME software, the rest starts automatically

Woah, insane!
One last question, are your motorized faders working? Can they move on it's own when they receive adjustments from Daslight?
Kind regards.

Re: Control Dashlight 5 using Behringer x-touch compact
oh, I wanted to include that. Yes and no. I use it as a dimmer/FX speed fader, it works great. I can regulate the eg dimmer value in the software and it moves along and shows the approx value via the metering LEDs. For example, a tilt "fader" that is controlled by an FX cannot be transferred to the x-Touch. So everything that is controlled manually can give feedback to the X-Touch, everything that is generated by DL cannot. I have VA this weekend, I'll try to vlog a bit

I'm planning to buy the Compact version this Saturday. Is there any way for you to make a quick vlog about that before Saturday, then I can make my final decision!
Here is an vid from what I hope to do: https://youtu.be/EUZ_ZbWH43g?si=yqzBef40WGanht0a&t=76

Re: Control Dashlight 5 using Behringer x-touch compact
So...
This is not possible directly from Daslight,
because Daslight does not output the saved fader values in a scene via MIDI when the scene is running.
For each scene there is another dimmer for the scene in DL5 (on the right edge of the screen in the scene options)
This can be mapped to midi and will also output midi if changed in the software, but this cannot be automated. to thread it in, for example like in your video, at the push of a button.
I can't think of a workaround for this
This could be achieved using the BOME midi translator.
However, requires a little additional programming.
So the push of a button would not be sent to daslight at all, but would only initiate the fade within the BMT, which then goes to the fader, which then sends it to daslight.
I hope that was all understandable.
Roughly speaking, I would say that almost anything can be achieved with the X-Touch and the Bome MIDI translator in conjunction.
I hope I could help you.
I'll try to make some more video tomorrow.
Maybe send me a number or email via PM, then I would send you a video of the event tomorrow via email, WhatsApp or something similar.
best regards
