Can't open .dvc files

Post by rickyr0 »

Hey,

since a while I can't open .dvc files via explorer. I get the Message "The specified device, path or file cannot be accessed. You may not have sufficient authorizations to access the element."

It doesn't matter where the file is located, I always get this message.

If I open it via DasLight5 I can open the files...

May someone help me?

Hi all,

We recently found out that there is an issue with assigning the newest Daslight 5 version as the standard program for .dvc files - at least if you have an older version installed in addition. We're working on a fix, together with a few other things, so with the next update this should be a thing of the past. Apologies for any inconveniences.

As rickyr0 has already stated, at the moment you should always start the program with it's dedicated desktop icon and only then load the intended dvc. file. (Btw: You can activate an option to always load the last .dvc file, that might at least help a bit.)

In addition to this, as I have read "the program is not updating" several times now, please also check if you have really linked the latest version to your desktop icon (v5.0.4.2). If so, it shouldn't bring any "New update available" prompt anymore. You can check the version of your currently running program via "..." > "Help" > "About".

If it's older than v5.0.4.2, please check on your PC if there's also a newer version installed and link that Daslight 5.exe (located in the "Daslight 5" sub folder) to your desktop (or your task bar or Windows Start menu, of course).

 I hope this will help a few of you!
