Add controls to touch... then what??

Post by directordash »

I think I must be missing something very very obvious, so apologies in advance for the stupid question...

When I add a control to the touch view -- a button, for example -- how do I then link that button to an action/scene/control param? I've added a button, and want it to trigger multiple scenes; I assume this is possible?

In any event, if the controls can only be added from the "control" view, then what's the purpose of the "Add Controls" pane in touch view?

Totally bewildered, support appreciated! :D

little circle with a dot in the top right (bind to touch) select the scene you want to trigger then the button in the touch view.

I see now. Very unintuitive, and sometimes no clear confirmation of a link between a scene/channel and a Touch asset.

I was able to attached two scenes to one button using the method you mentioned, but that then removed both of those scenes from other buttons assigned.

The use case here is I want all fixtures "open" with one button, but also want to be able to open groups of fixtures individually. Hence, would make sense to have a pseudo-button that triggers several scenes, while still being able to trigger those scenes individually.

I've migrated back to Daslight (for now) from ProDMX, but seriously concerned at how buggy DL5 is :(

you can right click while in the touch bind view and duplicate a scene to add a second button to one scene. I'm pretty sure in another forum the developers are working to make the number of bind-able options to one scene greater.

Yes, I figured this was the only workaround.
There's another bug (at least on Mac) whereby duplicating a scene then causes problems for existing buttons/touch controls related to the whole bank -- releases aren't honoured if the bank changes after creating the touch buttons, and hence they have to be removed and added again.

Real shame, as I hoped Daslight 5 would be the game-changer. Back to Chromateq for now :(

In the touch bind view, you have the option to duplicate a scene by right-clicking, adding a second button to the same scene. I believe developers in another forum are actively working to expand the number of bindable options for a single scene.
