I am using DL5 beta. When I logged in yesterday a dialog box appeared and asked if I wanted to upgrade. I said no, as I was worried I would lose my DMX Address mapping.
Should I upgrade into the same folder, or choose a different folder.
I saved my show as intialfixtures in a shows folder. If I upgrade, then open the initial shows, will my addresses and SSL files port over?
I think I had upgraded versions once before, and the fixtures did not port in and I had to re-enter addresses and fixtures.
Is this correct? Is there a strategy when doing upgrades?
Thanks,
Lee

Re: Upgrading Beta Versions
For my part when upgrading I just place the show-files outside of the daslight-folder and copy the entire "ScanLibrary"-folder to another place before installing the next beta in a new folder. Then I can just insert the "ScanLibrary" in that new Folder and open my show-files as before. Then I delete the older version.
The software opens the fixtures from that ScanLibrary. So as long as you have that fixtureprofiles there, the transition should work flawlessly. But keep in mind that you can't downgrade showfiles. So when you save your show in Version b08 for example, you can't open it again in b07.
The fixtureprofiles (which channel does what) are saved in the ScanLibrary and the set addresses are saved in the showfile.

Re: Upgrading Beta Versions
As long as it is a Beta-Version, I install al versions in diffrent folders. Then I have the possibility to compare the versions, if I found a bug. I keep the last 2 versions.
My showfiles are stored outside the programfolder, so I do not need to copy them every time.
I use only self-created SSL-files, these files are backuped in a seperate folder and I only have to copy this one folder to the scanlibrary after installing a new version.
Regards,
Michael

That's exactly what you need to do

It's not true. You can open new files with old beta.
