Feature Request: Alpha channel for Media at Color Mappings

Post by alex_j_suess »

Hello,

it would be very usefull to be able to use media with alpha channels / transparent at Color Mappaings with media data.
For example I would like a simple animate gif with a bar with moving from left to right.

I dont want my LED BARs to blackout when I start this scene with a bar moving from left to right.
One simple way would be the possibility a control box that black images dont affect any fixture (LED BARs dont blackout when starting)

This would be a game changer for daslight.
I dont think anyone know how usefull this would be!!!

Hi alex, I think I know what you are talking about but I need a little more to go on. Daslight 4 has the ability to import a video, gif, or photo in the color mapping so that the pixel matrix reflects the colors of the Media. Daslight 5 has the same ability but i am just finding out they removed the add media feature from daslight 5 and will be adding this to my list of cons but they do have pre made color mapping that you can achieve the effect you are describing.

However, if you are asking for a color wipe effect that updates each light without blacking all the fixtures out when effect is triggered. Create a step chase, first step only update the first fixture with the color, create another step updating the first two fixtures only, then repeat the process until the effect is made. I would suggest repeating this pattern once then releasing to the corresponding solid color scene.

Hello,

yes I know there is a workaround but imagine I have 120 Moving Heads and 60 LED PARs.
This would be very time consuming.

There is a way to "play" gifs and videos.

Ahh I understand what you are saying now, and no to my knowledge you can not set unaffected as a color and i agree this should be a feature.

For png files it works, but not for animated gifs as you can see in this video.
As soon as I start the scene the colors are blacked out (except for the beam Moving Heads).

I can test other video formats if you can tell me which videoformat / codex is supported with alpha channel.

Hello

There is no codec for gif.
Can you send me your project file with the Gif, I will check what happens.

Seems like transparent images/videos just work for Mappings and not for color mappings.
Can someone confirm?
