Is it just me, or is the BPM all funky?

OK...I have P64 LEDs that I'm trying to get to simply go back'n'forth from one thing to another on a beat. For illustration purposes, each side of the stage I have 4 pars for a total of 8 pars. However, I focus/use them in pairs SL/SR, so I only have 4 pars patched in the software. Basically, here's what I set up:

Scene 1:
US DS Fade Hold
Step 1: Blue/Blue; Red/Red; 00m00s00; 00m00s24
Step 2: Red/Red; Blue/Blue; 00m00s00; 00m00s24

Open BPM ... choose ""Learning" ... press "F5" 4 times in the rhythm I want (say, 4/4 time) ... back in VC2, right-click the scene in "Live" mode and choose "BPM on Step". Left-click the scene in "Live" and ... Blue/Blue/Red/Red (Step 1) comes up and .... nothing else. So, with it running, I go to "Editor" mode and it seems to only ever actually be on step 1.

So, I duplicate each step, ending up with:

Scene 1:
US DS Fade Hold
Step 1: Blue/Blue; Red/Red; 00m00s00; 00m00s24
Step 2: Blue/Blue; Red/Red; 00m00s00; 00m00s24
Step 3: Red/Red; Blue/Blue; 00m00s00; 00m00s24
Step 4: Red/Red; Blue/Blue; 00m00s00; 00m00s24

Now I get that alternating look I was hoping for. So, I'm thinking, "Something about the BPM is only actually activating every other step...no problem. I can work with that, I guess."

So, now I want a fade between each step. Add in a .24 fade and take out the hold time...Right-Click the button in "Live", choose "BPM with fade" and the lights just go haywire!! Sometimes they'll fade, sometimes not. I check the "Editor" mode with the scene running and it seems, now, to stop from time-to-time on one or the other of steps 2 and 4. So, now I'm thinking, "Okay, it's actually activating the intermediate steps, it's just doing it so fast that it doesn't have time to actually activate the light(s)...

Long-ish story short: It took about an hour of playing around with fade/hold times and finally got the look I was hoping for.

Is there something I'm missing? What I was wanting is for each step to fade in, fade to the next, fade to the first, etc. I'd like to be able to do it with only two steps, but I'm comfuzzled. Any ideas?

If you want to send me your show I will take a look. Make 4 scenes
scene 1: BPM step (expected programming method)
scene 2: BPM step (what had to be done to achieve effect)
scene 3: BPM fade (expected programming method)
scene 4: BPM fade (what had to be done to achieve effect)

The BPM on fade is dodgy.
Personally I think the S2L routines are a bit suspect and lacking.
I have got scenes that used to work, nothing changed and now they don't. Work on BPM on Step though ???????
I have duplicate scenes (just a different name) that do work, go figure.

I can't see any problems with the BPM step, but you're right there is something strange going on with the BPM fade. We'll take a look at it.

Thanks for looking at that, Simon...

However, with the BPM Step (and this isn't something that shows up in the 3D Rendering), my lights will flash off briefly upon return to the first step. It's barely noticeable, but definitely there. So, I had to put in a 0s04 fade on the first step to eliminate this blinking....put in the 0s04 fade on step 2 because, apparently, I'm OCD or something ;)

Sorry, failed to mention that in my original post.

Thanks again
