VC2 and Akai APC 40 Midi Controller

Post by webbo04 »

Hi Guys,

I've recently bought a Akai APC 40 Midi Controller

I'm wanting to use it with Daslight, If possible. Either in programming mode for pan and tilts I want to patch the faders of my apc40 to controll VC2's faders.

Also in live mode, Is it possible to set these faders to a fixtures dimmer fader in LTP Mode.

Sorry if this isn't clear.

I too would like to know. If DVC uses the universal MIDI protocol then it wouldn't matter what type or brand of controller you have as it is only reading MIDI signals from the controller.

With Daslight you can control the following with MIDI:

1. The master faders
2. The Speed of a scene
3. Scene On/Off/Pause
4. Next scene
5. Selection of groups
6. Add a scene
7. Add a step

See the shortcut manager for a full list (in the tools menu)

can the shortcut manager in the next edition, show assigned scene shortcuts, so we know at a glance which keyboard characters have been used?

just a thought but a midi manager would be useful too.

An idea would be to copy Abletons's midi map program where by pressing a button an overlay screen appears highlighting which software control is being used by midi and what midi channel it is assigned to.

Another would be making a a softmap for Jazz mutant device like this one

Damn I could code it myself.

So it's possible to control the pan and tilt faders?

yes but this overides any scene programming and assumes LTP. therefore unless you leave the sliders at zero the scene programming does not function.

I know I'm digging up a old topic here but

So I can only use them when programming? That's all I wanted. How do I do this?

yes you can use midi for controlling channel values for programming, but when you return to live screen mode you will need to deactivate midi control of the channel sliders as the midi control takes precidence. (LTP).
