!URGENT! DVC2 Creates new scenes when in live mode!

Post by wee_jimmy_mehrts »

Hey guys,

With the current DVC2 software (not the beta), and running the DVC2 Gold interface, I have a major issue when running in Live mode.

here's a brief description of what I am experiencing:

1. I make all scenes I need=OK
2. I playback all scenes to check they work=OK
3. When a scene is selected in the Live mode, it works=OK
4. However, after a period of time, the faders down the bottom of the screen (most commonly the pan, tilt and shutter/dimmer channels) go from Auto mode to LTP mode and go to the centre values. All by itself!

Also, when only running shows in Live mode only, new scenes appear as if I had created empty scenes in the editor!

This happens when i'm in the middle of playing a current scene or if I'm not playing anything at all.

The only way I can fix this by changing the LTP back to Auto, but by the time I can do that, it's too late!

This needs to be addressed asap because It causes my whole lighting rig to "temorarily shut down" right in the middle of a performance!

Here is a picture showing the four extra unwanted scenes at the end of all the scenes I made! Scene 1, Scene 2, Scene 3 and Scene 4.

this sounds like a computer problem,

however try creating a new scene (scene 1) then taking your scenes one at a time select all the steps cut and paste them to the new scene.

I have had to do this in the past when the visualiser would not show any action but the scenes appeared to be working. but there was actually no output. The steps would work ok in the editor but not in live mode.

failing that i would suggest uninstall the whole program, and try again from scratch.

good luck.

Well I am giving the beta version a go in the meantime to see if it gives me the same troubles.

So hopefully...

Something to check see if there are any shortcuts set for creating a scene.

The LTP thing I do not know what could be causing that.

As Richard said it might be better to uninstall, use a registry cleaner and then do a fresh install, your shows etc will be safe.

I would also ensure you have got an upto date virus scanner and perform a scan as strange behaviour like that should not happen.

I am now using the beta version of daslight, and so far, it is going well.

However, this has been without the interface attached. So it could still be an underlying issue with the interface and DVC2.

Hi people!
I have the same problem with self generated scenes!
As Wee jimmy said, it hapens after some period of time, and then you have to change ltp to automatic, or restart the software!
It is an issue because it can happen in a wrong moment and mess up your light show!
And you cant leave the computer conected to the light and leave, because it will self generate the new scene no matter if you are doing something or not!
So you have to take care of the time that has passed from the moment you started the comp because it can go off at the wrong time.
So if anyone has the answer how to fix that, please help!!!

VIANNEY HELP

Post by Richard CSL »

Yes I can confirm it has just started to happen to me. now in a night I run 3 seperate files, and it is happening to all 3 of them. nearly ruined my show last night. just as I was about to hit a cue the page jumped and 2 additional scenes had been created.

they are only ever created in the first group, and seem to occur after about an hour of the program running.

Also the live cue button which shows the dmx output level sliders, I am having problems as this now only shows the last colour used not the current one , an annoying glitch.

Has anyone used the beta version to see if any of these problems are resolved there, not brave enough to do it myself in case of problems.

I do not use the beta version on my "LIVE" laptop but I do on my desktop where I do the programming and then transfer to my latop.

I do not and have not ever had this happen to me. My laptop is live for at least 3 hours when I do a show. My desktop the time I am on it varies depending on what I am trying to achieve. I will start the program and leave it on and see what happens.

No Andre I am not using the beta version, and I dont think the others are either, it happened again last night, all three of my files , first group added a new scene, these were run one after the other , the new scene files can appear at any time, last night appeared when I was not looking so cant identify exactly when, but I do know it happened on start up of the second and third files.

We are going to need help from Vianney on this one I think.

I had my desktop and laptop running through their paces last night for 3 and a half hours with interfaces plugged in and nothing happened, no extra scenes, no channels jumping to LTP. everything worked as I have programmed it to.

I am not saying it's not happening just it's not happening to me.

Yes I think Vianney and his team need to look into this. You guys will have to send them your shows and don't forget to include any fixtures you have created or modified. Also include full spec of the computer and what other programs are running at the time. What interfaces you are using, serial number and firmware veriosn (obtainable from "Tools>Interface" menu, what version of the program you are using etc. as much info as possible so they can indentify what is possibly causing this to happen.
