[Solved] Daslight Remote unable to connect (MacOS)

Hello Daslight community!

After not using Daslight Remote for a few months, I noticed that none of my iPads are able to connect to my Daslight instance anymore.

The behavior is as follows:
Daslight Remote displayed the IP-Address of the host running Daslight but when I select it, the app displays "Daslight connected" but does not change to the touch view.
After updating MacOS, not even the Daslight-Instance (IP address) is displayed in the selection.:cry:

When looking into system logs of Daslight with console.app I found the following error related to the Apple ViewBridge service:
ViewBridge to RemoteViewService Terminated: Error Domain=com.apple.ViewBridge Code=18 UserInfo={com.apple.ViewBridge.error.hint=this process disconnected remote view controller -- benign unless unexpected, com.apple.ViewBridge.error.description=NSViewBridgeErrorCanceled}
What I've done so far:
  • reinstall Daslight and reboot my devices.
  • make sure iPads run the newest version of Daslight Remote
  • look into possible networking issues like active VPNs or Firewall settings.

    Installation:
    • Macbook M1 16GB
    • Macos Sequoia 15.4.1
    • Daslight 5.0.5.2
    Has anyone else experienced similar problems?
    Any help or tips are appreciated!

    Hi,

    i have the exact same problem with my macbook and iphone/ipad. Also tried reinsallting etc.

    The "solution" is to turn off the firewall completely at my macbook (which isn“t a real solution). Please fix this issue.

    Hello,

    Unfortunately if it is a firewall blocking the connection, this is not something that can be fixed on our side. That being said, you shouldn't need to necessarily turn off the whole firewall to fix this- instead, you can try enabling the connection manually though your firewall software. You can either check and allow for the relevant permissions, or you can manually open the 2430 and 2431 network ports, which are used by Daslight to detect and communicate from the app to the software.

    Thank you for the replies,

    disabling the MacOS Firewall worked for me. I agree, that this is only a very temporary fix.

    The MacOS Firewall settings are very limited and I could not find options to manually open a port, creating a new entry for Daslight and allowing connections did not help either.

    I seem to have had the same issue, will try the Firewall option
