Step Scenes and copy modifiers

Post by DJMan32 »

To my knowledge there is no way to put existing scenes into a step scene as one of the steps right? if not can we have that as a feature?

another feature that would be nice would be to copy modifiers to another fixture. For example you want to Command-C the position on the grid of an existing fixture and Command-V the new fixture. or you have the perfect gobo settings on one fixture and you want to add that to anther fixture......

Thanks!!!!

Hello,

Thanks for raising this thread! Just so I understand correctly- is the request that you want to have a whole scene play in one step, then another scene play in the second step, etc. ... kind of like a sequence of scenes playing one after the other? If so, I would suggest adding the scenes to a Super Scene to set this up.

Or perhaps I have misunderstood? If so, would you please be able to provide some more information about the request?

Regarding the request to copy/paste values- I will add this as a suggestion to considered in future updates.

Kind regards,
Will

hello, thanks for the reply.

Yes that is exactly what im looking for. much how can turn FX into a step chase, i would like to add an existing scene as a step. I can not use the super scene in this application as i would like the drive mode to be GO for next scene and so on.

This comes from a theatre point of view. We have say 30 sceneries and would like to duplicate each scenery in various parts of the Performance but each time they have something minor changed.

in this case, you could insert a scene as a step, modify, and another scene, and you would have the old style of next CUE like the older consoles.

I have thought about using the PLAY NEXT SCENE button, however when playing scene the are considered a "Bump" or "Flash FX" and wont release properly for the next scene. However the Step Scenes have a Familiar "Tracking' Programing Feel.

Hello,

Thanks for sharing some more info! I see that the Super Scene will not work in this case, however I'm not so sure why the 'Play next scene' button is not sufficient in this case... You mentioned about the previous scene not releasing properly, or being treated as a Flash FX... I'm not 100% what you mean by this, but as long as you have the correct 'Release mode' set, and the program is in 'Live' mode (NOT in Edit mode, see screenshot below), this should work nearly exactly as described with the Steps scene request.

Unfortunately this would not be something that would be possible for the Steps scene, as this is quite a different function- more like a 'cue list' than a Steps scene which is designed to program individual frames. Perhaps it would be something that is looked into in a future Daslight iteration, but I'm not sure it is something that would be included in this particular version because it's quite a big new feature.

Kind regards,
Will
