I can only use one move FX at a time

I created two Move FX effects for two groups of moving heads, one effect on one bank and one on another bank, but activating the buttons only one effect is performed. One overrides the other even with the same priority. How can I activate both?

Thanks

Hello,

Are the Move FX scenes targeting the same fixtures? If so- the latest triggered scene will take priority because you the scenes are sending conflicting values to the fixtures. If you want the Move FX to stack on top of each other, you would need to set one of the scenes to be 'Relative' rather than 'Absolute'.

Kind regards,
Will

No, I'm using two separate groups of lights, a group of 8 moving head spots and a group of 4 moving head wash. I generated buttons with move FX effects for each individual group, different effects from each other.
But I can't use the two effects together, one excludes the other.
Thanks for your help.

Hmm, I'm not sure I follow. Could you possibly zip the project file and then attach it here so that I can check this out? If you also let me know specifically what scene(s) you want me to check that would be helpful.

Kind regards,
Will

Hello!

It looks to me that you have the 3rd scene in the Bank set to Release Mode = 'Bank'. This means that when you trigger this particular scene, it will release (stop playing) any other scene currently playing in the Bank. You can change the Release Mode to 'Off' to fix this.

Kind regards,
Will

Tey to create two different moving scenes in the individual banks.
Scene from bank 1 assign to the one pair of movers, scene from bank 2 assign to the second par of movers.
Run both scenes from banks.

Hello,

I have just attached a video demonstrating my last post- is this what you have tried already? As you can see, switching to 'Off' allows all scenes to play in the same Bank without turning off.

Furthermore, I can actually see that the 3rd scene in Bank 1 has a static value for the Pan/Tilt set on each step- so this may actually override the moving Pan/Tilt value set in scene 2 of Bank 1. You could select all steps in scene 3, then deactivate the Pan/Tilt channels (press the green dot at the top of the Pan/Tilt channel) so that there is now no static value sent to the movement on scene 3.

Kind regards,
Will

Hi,

I also have a bit of a problem with two or more Move FX effects.

In the old DL4, I created two Move FX effects in one program for two rows of moving heads. Both were basically the same, only they differed in their running - for example, with Circle, one row moved clockwise and the other counter-clockwise. By doing this, I achieved an interlacing effect - the lights in the rows moved against each other.

In the current version, I cannot set one Move FX run "counter-clockwise", because I always have to adjust the second one as well, and basically both rows still run in the same direction.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Hello,

This can be done in a number of ways. There is the 'symmetry' toggle which can be very useful, also selecting the correct index order is very important too. Alternatively you can have 2 separate move FX, each assigned to different fixtures- then you can drag the shape from a corner to its opposite side in order to reverse the direction. Please see the video attached below for demonstrations of a few ideas that could help you get started with this:

Hi willm,

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I needed to explain.
Can you please explain to me how to assign and delete indexes?

Thank you

So indexes are assigned as you select a fixture. You can do this by left click/dragging the selection tool across a number of fixtures, then the selection will automatically assign an incrementing number to each beam. You can also hold CMD+left click on an individual fixture to select one at a time, each selection will increase incrementally in the index. If you want certain fixtures to have the same index, you can hold CMD+Option+left click, then the index will not increase but will remain the same as the previous selection.

Once you have an index order that you like, I would recommend saving this to the 'Selections' tab in the far right side of the 2D viewer. This means that you can instantly recall that index order whenever by clicking on the selection, so you don't have to manually select each fixture each time.

Kind regards,
Will
