What is Beat GO?

Hi,

I asked that already in a previous post, but it was not the main topic of the post and I got no answer on that.

So, I'd like to dedicate a specific post to this question:
What is BeatGo? How does it differ from the BPM option, when it is turned on? Or am I misunderstanding the UI and is, whatever BPM I tap or set only applied, when the "GO" button is active?

The manual is completely silent on this topic. Or I misread it.

Thank you!

Regarding BPM (Beats Per Minutetunnel rush) and the "GO" button, it would depend on the specific software or application you are referring to. Generally, BPM is a measure of tempo, indicating the number of beats occurring within one minute of music. It is often used to synchronize or adjust the timing of music-related elements.

Thanks for getting back to me, but let me clarify

See the attached screenshot.

I'm talking about the "Go" button vs. the tap button. What do these do differently?

I assume the "Go" button the relates to the "BeatGO" driving mode option in the scene options. There you can also select "BPM" so they must work differently, otherwise it would not make sense to offer both and decide between them.

The manual absolutely tells nothing about how they differ.

So, what is the difference?

Tap sets bpm

Go jumps all scenes running to the next beat

When an effect is paused, everytime you hit the GO button it advanced the scene to the next beat, this can be useful when you have multiple steps in a scene set up for parts of a play,

Ah, OK, that explains the "Go" button vs the tap.

But that does not explain, yet, what this means for the driving mode of a scene. There I can decide between "Beat Go", "BPM" and "Pulse".

What does setting it to "Beat Go" do differently than setting it to "BPM"?

off: just runs through the time and is only effected by the speed adjustment.

beat go: advances when you hit GO, most commonly used while scene is paused but can be used with time to sync all of the beat go scenes.

BPM: jumps steps to set bpm, Tap the Tap button to set the global BPM

Pulse: used for the little microphone adjustment in the top right, when the audio reaches the adjusted point it then advances to the next step(also commonly used with scene paused

Ah, so "Beat Go" has nothing to do with actual beat detection / synchronization, like with tapping or audio detection via mic.

The only thing it does, is to eventually start all scenes, which have "Beat Go" set as its driving mode, or have these scenes skip to the next step, whenever the button is clicked?

If that is the case, is there actually a use case for clicking the button beneath starting the scenes depending on it? Who does click the button all the time?

I want to add, thank you for your answer and explanation. ;)

yes that's correct, and the go scenes are usually used in theatre with preprogrammed cues for each scene, that way you can just hit go and it automatically jumps to the next step on all active beat go scenes.

OK, thank you!

I think the term "Beat GO" is very confusing. It should be more along the lines of "Click GO", as it has nothing to do with actual music beats. But that is something for the devs or product designers to decide.

Thanks!
