Daslight Remote: Manual IP option

Hi,

It would be a great addition if there was an option to manually force a connection to a specific IP address in the Remote app.

The auto discovery fails sometimes, while the devices are definitely both on the same network (and in the same subnet and everything). A manual IP address option would thus make it more reliable.

Plus, the Daslight device will never change in my setup, so I always want to connect to the same one, and thus waiting for the auto discovery when quickly wanting to make a few changes is cumbersome.

Thx!

while on that topic can we make the 3d viewer network accessible? that way we can offload that load on a separate machine?

for the application's ability to compel a connection to a certain IP address. You can use the 3D programming network to transfer that to another computer. geometry dash subzero

We have also noticed issues with auto discovery, particularly with some routers. For example, the BT Smart Hub 2 appears to delay the delivery of broadcasts, sometimes by up to 2 minutes. With this in mind, we are planning to improve this in a few ways:

- Removal of the manual refresh button - replacing it with an auto-scan that will run periodically.
- Currently we use a limited broadcast to search for Daslight; this will be extended to use directed broadcasts that will hopefully be treated more favourably by routers.
- The ability to manually enter the IP address of a Dasight instance.
- Auto re-connect to the last selected Daslight instance, as soon as it is detected.

The easiest way is to manage the PC and all WiFi-enabled devices in their own separate network. This is known as a MAC FILTER. This gives you your own private network without outside interference. I have not had any interruptions or delays for 1.5 years.

Greetings Klaus

Hi.
I just came across this thread while searching for a manual IP option myself. Is this still a planned feature or will this never happen? Scanning for IPs doesn't seem to work in a WiFi with an TP Link EAP670 at all, manually connecting to an IP is no problem though.

Thanks in advance,
MMC

Yes this is still planned; it should get worked on over the next few weeks.
