Is there a way to use a trackball for positioning?

Hello there,
I am programming shows with DVC2 Gold. It would help a lot to combine PAN & TILT functions with a trackball to make positioning easier with devices such as MAC101 for example... Is there any way to achieve this? Thanks for your help...

yes I went down to Maplin and bought a trackball for about £30. plugged it in and it works perfectly.
