Reset or note off

Hi there, sorry for a new basic question.

We are running audio software in our live shows that send midi to various devices, including daslight.

We are using a basic note on (using value “on”) to trigger each song, which we use a super scene for each song. This works fine.

Where it gets tricky is if we have to abort the audio playback for some reason (the guitarist trips over, the vocalist chokes on his beer, etc…).

We can stop our audio playback, but the lights keep going, as a note off doesn’t get triggered, or at least we don’t know how to make it do that, or have daslight default to off unless it is actively receiving something.

We have a keyboard we could take to trigger a “reset scene”, sort of like midi panic, but is there a better way to configure something in midi to do this?

Maybe just start a blackout scene linked to a matching static scene. Should work.

Thanks, we have a “reset” blackout scene which goes to our default lights position. We can trigger that manually but the the lights keep playing until someone does.

The issue we have is how to trigger that by midi, so it’s instantaneous.

The audio playback, as far as we know, doesn’t send a “note off” as soon as playback is paused or rewind is pressed. So daslight doesn’t know to turn off.

I’m wondering tho, if there is a way to do the logically opposite scenario. Such as if daslight is continuously receiving a note on (or if there is another more suitable midi message), when it not longer receives that, it knows it needs to stop, and does?

I don't know if there is a special reason why you have to use MIDI notes. I just use MIDI controllers. I can start a superscene at any time and trigger a blackout via a MIDI controller. That works great.

Yes that would work, it’s just ours are completely controlled and in time with our click track, all controlled in our audio program.

So ideally as soon as we stop that, daslight resets too, via midi. We can use a keyboard, but just hoping to find a way to have it all in software

OK. I can understand that. I don't know how I can help now, but it sounds interesting and I will test a bit at home.
