Question...

Can Daslight 5 take in a MIDI Clock signal from say a DJ Mixer and then send that out to other devices/software using Ableton Link?

Hey,
I also thought about this.
The only things you find is that people say „You don’t need this since a good LJ has to do this.“
I understand it but it’s also a nice feature.
Now to the „answer“:
Theoretically you can. It seems to be easy if you have DJ software and Daslight on the same computer. I don’t know if you can send Ableton Link over LAN, but if you can you have to be in the same network (I think so). I also don’t know how to actually connect them or if DL detects it automatically.

I couldn’t test this yet but maybe someone has ideas how/if it works.

Matrix

Hey,

I now had time to test this. Most DJ software should support Ableton Link, like Rekordbox.
Anyways Daslight 5 is only able to recieve BPM over Ableton Link, it can't send it itself.

To sync DL to your DJ software with Ableton Link

1. Connect DJ and LJ
To connect the DJ software and Daslight they have to be in the same network. You can do this by connecting both computers with a hotspot or LAN cable. (You don't have to do this if you use the same computer for both softwares)

2. DJ software
Enable Ableton Link in your DJ software. It depends on the DJ software how you do this.
In Rekordbox you can click on "Link" at the top middle to enable this.

3. Daslight 5
Go to Settings > MIDI/Audio/BPM > BPM Source > Ableton Link Sync

Now the both devices and software should be connected and whenever the DJ changes BPM it's gonna sync in Daslight in real-time. The BPM at the top should be a grey number an the bar should blink synced with the BPM.
I hope this could help you or anyone who needs it.

Regards,
Matrix

Yes, Daslight 5 can receive MIDI clock signals from external devices such as a DJ mixer and then send that out to other devices or software using Ableton Link.

Ya octordle To use MIDI clock synchronization, you need to use your device/app connection to Live.

I'm using Ableton Suite 11 and I've been looking for a sync problem for a long time.
And there it is.
You have to use the ASIO sound driver in Ableton and then the LINK of the ableton becomes active.. and only then the tempo syncs perfectly with DASLIGHT5. Ugh :)
