Is it possible to put DVC in a bright mode to work better in direct sunlight? at live events I often have problems using DVC properly.

No, I'm afraid it's not possible to change the GUI theme in the present version.
Maybe it will be possible in Daslight 5, because I've read several posts about that feature that is often requested.
