...i bought a chauvet colorstrip and it has this crazy bug that whenever you're in RGB dmx mode, it will randomly make flashes. i read on fourms that other people had success in solving their problems by refreshing the rate from the factory setting of "40" to something lower "22" and the flashing stops. these people used other software/hardware. is there anyway in das light to do this??
thanks!

I only got asked this question yesterday on the Sunlite forums. Our boxes work at 25hz. If Chauvet fixtures don't like this then it is up to them to fix their bug as 25Hz is completely normal for the DMX standard.
With the new DVC2 Gold and DVC2 512 interfaces, it is possible to change the output rate within the hardware tools.
A maximum-sized packet, which has 512 channels (slots following the start code), takes approximately 23 ms to send, corresponding to a maximum refresh rate of about 44 Hz. For higher refresh rates, packets having fewer than 512 channels can be sent.
So 25 Hz would be fine.
I have seen this with a lot of "cheap" LED fixtures and reducing the refresh rate can help, but nine times out of ten it does not.
I get it with some cheap "chinese" LED PAR Cans that I have and it is not even the same ones that "blink" every now and then.

SimonB: Thanks! ...what exactly do you mean by "hardware tools" is that a function in the software, or do you mean changing something on the device itself? I'm not sure which one I have. (its not infront of me at the moment) I know its DVC Gold but not sure if its the second one or not. Mine is blue and the one on das light's website shows black. anyway.. thanks for your help and I contacted Chauvet and they are going to have fedex come and pick up my colorstrip and they are going to fix it themselves free of charge. take care!

... and i thank you too Andre!

Glad to hear Chauvet understand they have messed this one up. The hardware tools (tools.exe) is a separate application which can be found in the root Daslight folder.
The latest generation of interfaces have only been around 2-3 months.
