I have a question about the generator...
I have worked alot with Awolites lightcontrollers and I bought Daslight because I needed a easy controller for smaller discos and installations.. BUT I dont understand the Generator.. For example if I do a Circle in the generator.. WHY should it generate steps in the scene? Why cant it calculate the circle live? Like the Awolite controllers? Then its only 1step with the center of the circle and for example some colors and gobos...
And when I generate the circle I must write how many points... For example 4.. Why do I get 10 steps?? I Only wanted 4...

And what is the Live set levels when I generate?? What does that meen?

And is it only me that have problem 1/10 times after I have used the generator and have to exit the VC2 and start ite again before I can use the Scene that I have made in the generator? All the other scenes work but not the one I have generated...

The generator can calculate live.
try clicking the Fx generator button at the top of the live page. then remember to click the light on button after selecting the heads required.

then the start button for the effect, and yes you can change the number of points for the effect. I normally use 4. The only thing you can't do is add colours to the generated scene unless you select the live fixture tab and superimpose the colours over the effect.

You can now generate the effect and this will be stored but without the colours and gobos.

Yes I see what you mean here, a dynamic effect which is stored within a single step. This is a great feature but this is not possible as it goes against the whole Daslight architecture. All programming in Daslight works in steps.

A way of later adding colours and gobos to the scene would be to select all the steps and changing the colour/gobo

This is only possible within the effects generator whilst creating the effect. (Richard has answered this)

When the effects generator asks for a number of points it means a number a graphical editing points. This does not relate to the number of steps. If the number of steps was 4, it would be drawing a square.

You cannot have your lights draw a circle with 4 points. This is because each step fades in a linear form between 2 points. Infact when you generate a circle what you are actually creating is many small straight lines which give the appearance of a circle.

This could be a bug, I think I have had a similar problem, I'll forward it on to the developers.
