How many interfaces could be used at the same time on the same computer, and how many universe would this be, how could you assign different fixtures to the different universe. Thought that question had been asked but can find any reference to answer when searching. Thanks

The interfaces are connected by USB to your computer. Theoretically you could connect as many interfaces as you like.

You could create a maximum of 25 universes in Daslight. Note that you could use the same universe for several DMX outputs if you like.

how could you assign different fixtures to the different universe

Switching between universes is very explicitely done in the patch section of Daslight 4. Just set the focus to the desired universe and patch your fixture (button PATCH). The fixture will be assigned to the correct universe in the software.
Physical devices only need an address. Their universe only depends on the DMX output you'll set from the software. For a fixture to be on Universe 2, just connect it to the interface output set to Daslight Universe 2.

Thank you, so if I understand correctly dvc4 gold capable of 2 uni, so 3 units would be total 6 Uni or 3000 or so dmx addresses.

That's right. 3 DVC4 Gold will allow you to use 3072 DMX channels.

Very interesting to know that several interfaces can be used together.
By the way, Daslight 4 allows 25 universes.

But one question : has anyone already plugged more than 1 Gold interface ?
What about the computer performances ?
Is there an additional delay with the data transfer to the fixtures ?
Are there specific system requirements for more universes ?

Hey Pol,

The amount of interfaces doesn't change anything to the computer performances. You can plug as many interfaces at once as you like. And there is no additional transfer delay. The rest really depends on your machine. The more universes you'll patch, the more DMX values calculations your computer will have to perform, as you could expect.

How do you move a showfile created on universe 1 over onto universe 2 without losing all your programming. I have accidentally created a 2nd showfile in universe 1 when it should have been universe 2 as I need to run both at once in 2 separate instances of Daslight.

I'm afraid this isn't possible. Your show is based on your patch, and the data is stored according to the DMX addresses of your fixtures.

If you import the patch from another show, it'll replace your current patch, no matter the universes used.

But the DMX addresses of each fixture are the same... it's just they need to be on Universe 2 in the software.
