What is: "Light beam ON"?

Hi,
could anyone explain me what "Light beam ON" (in the "Options" menu) does? - I don't understand this.

Hello,
if this function is enabled, when you select a fixture in the editor mode automatically light up the channels to turn on the lamp, this is convenient, but many times it can cause problems in the planning stage.

For example,imagine you have a moving head. The button will:
1- recall the 'open shutter' preset
2- set the dimmer to 100%
3- open the iris
