Fade times and using FX Generator

Hi,
Now that I am figuring this stuff out
I have a question....
I have some scenes programmed but when I change the fade time between it still scenes stays the same at 1 second. I am changing scenes manually by clicking the named scenes with the mouse using different scenes at different times so I can't set it up to run a sequence.
Also Having an issue with the FX generator. It asks me if I want to save the scene after I set something up and I click yes but I can't get it to run. Can anyone give a screenshot how the page is set up or is there a You Tube page on this? I don't work well with manuals unfortunatly.
