Midi Feedback

Dear Daslight-Team,
first of all - many Thanks for including Midi-Feedback. Now I've waited for two years.
Midi-Feedback works:
- by switching on/off a scene from Midi-device
- by switching on/off a scene with the click of the mouse on a scene button
- by dimmer slider of a scene button
- by speed slider of a scene button
- by slider of the master dimmer
- by freeze/pause and blackout button
Midi-Feedback doesn't work:
- by switching on/off a scene witch a keyboard key
- by chanching a dmx value with a scene
Thanks for your good work and keep further development
Best Regards, Klaus

Hi, thanks for the report.
- by chanching a dmx value with a scene
I don't understand this. Did you mean to say, when changing a scene with a DMX controller?

Hi Simon,
First example:
One slider of the midi-controller (BCF2000) is mapped to a dimmer-chanel of a moving head via Midi Input f.e. DMX channel 005.
Perhaps the same channel is triggered by an automatic scene (fade-in and fade-out), the will be no midi-feedback to the slider of the midi-controller.
Second example:
We have a group of scenes wirh different moves for the moving heads. The release mode of the scenes in Daslight is switched to group.
Switching on f.e. the 1st scene via midi-controller - ok.
Switching on f.e. the 2nd scene via midi-controller -ok. (1st scene goes off, midi-feedback tells the LED of the "midi-controller 1st scene button" go off, and the LED of the "midi-controller 2nd scene button" go on).
But the problem is, if the same scenes are triggered to jump automatic f.e. after 4 loops from the 1st scene to the 2nd scene by Daslight, there will be no midi-feedback to the midi-controller, to give the information: 1st scene went OFF and 2nd scene goes ON. So the Status-LEDs of the midi-controller can't give the right information.
Regards, Klaus

We'll check the bug with the MIDI feedback when scenes are jumping. Regarding the output faders, we tried to apply MIDI feedback on this but decided it was not a good idea because:
-the faders are always going crazy when scenes are playing, and making a lot of noise
-if you want to override with the fader, there is a conflict as the software is also trying to control the fader

OK Thanks Simon,
I'm looking forward to the next update.

Hi Simon,
perhaps it could be a great solution to give the user the possibility to swith on/off midi feedback on selected channels.

It would be nice to have this, but if we allow this option, next customers would like us to implement customized feedback messages, feedback messages of different MIDI message types etc.etc...I know from experience with Sunlite Suite 2 and we ended up spending months on this and having to deal with a lot of bugs. So for the time being we will not be implementing any other MIDI feedback related functions, but why not for the future if a lot of customers could benefit from a new feature.

Hi Simon,
I agree with you, that it is not a good idea to move the faders while a scene is running. But it would be a good feature to have an opportunity to send the actual values to a midi controller like a snapshot. If you have a midi controller with several layers or presets (e.g. BCF2000) and you change a fader that is on layer 1 with your mouse on your pc during your controller is on layer 2 and you change back to layer 1 on your controller, the positions of the faders deviate from each other.
Another example is, you have two buttons on your controller, which starts a scene (Button A - Scene A and Button B - Scene B). Now if you start scene A the led in button A lights. If scene A automaticaly jumps to scene B, the led in button A turns off and the led in button B turns on. That works fine. But if you have changed the layer in your controller while scene A jumped to scene B and you come back to the layer with your assigned buttons, the status of the leds is not correct anymore.
For this case the snapshot feature would be great, so I can update the status of the faders and leds. And if I can trigger this snapshot with a midi event, it would be perfect, so I can automaticaly receive a snapshot every time I change my layer on the controller.
Thanks in advance.

Too bad that I have not received any response.

Would it be possible to think about such a feature?
Thanks in advance.
