Daslight on iPhone/iPod Touch

Post by whitelightlampy »

Right folks,

Something I thought you might be interested in.

After seeing Avolites release a piece of software for the iPhone to control their lighting desks I thought i'd research it for Daslight.

Before you read any further let me just state... This will only work on Windows XP Professional and all versions of Vista apart from Home edition.

I can say i've only used it over a wireless network. I took a redundant router with me to a gig, plugged it on, connected my phone and laptop to it and I was away. All you need is a LAN connection but you can apparently do it over 3G/Edge but I wouldn't rely on the speeds.

Anyway...

If you're now interested in this, you want to look for a bit of software call Remote Desktop from App Store. (There is also a lite version which does also work and is free)
Other Apps that i've found more stable to use is Jaadu Remote Desktop (either the VLC version or the ordinary one. Users preference really) I use the Jaadu VLC version with a lot more success than the others.

Set all that up and if you're having trouble try the help wizard at http://www.mochasoft.dk/

Once you've got it all connected, get Daslight open on live mode and you've got yourself a wireless Daslight controller. Happy days.

I've used it with great success and no problems. Things may be different for other people however but all the best if you do give it a try.

Hope this was useful.

Sorry about the bump.

I was just wondering if it's possible to drop the wireless router if you are running a laptop with wireless.

This technically should work as it would save dragging around another bit of equipment to get broken.

E.g. Have the iphone/iPod Touch directly connected to the computer via wireless.

If anyone has a possible answer that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Jimmy.

I thought it might not be possible but found this web-page http://alaashaker.wordpress.com/2009/03 ... rk-iphone/

I do not have a iPhone so could not check to see if this works or not.

Let us know if it works.

Iphone Wireless Control - No router required.

Success!!

Just set up an iphone wireless (router not required) controller for Daslight with wi-fi range

Create an ad-hoc network connection between laptop and iphone
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... adhoc.mspx

Download and install Itouchmidi for windows http://www.itouchmidi.com/files/win/ito ... in_107.zip

run itouchmidi for win dont worry about error messages, it places an icon in the taskbar to adjust midi settings later.)

Download and install Midi Yoke http://www.midiox.com/myoke.htm
this will give you the necessary virtual midi ports for Daslight

Now go to your taskbar and right click on the itouchmidi icon and set your in and out midi ports to midiyoke1

Install itouchmidi on your ipod/iphone via the app store, there is a free version for testing this out before parting with your hard earned money for the app.

When you run the app on your iphone your ad-hoc network should appear ,tap to connect.

Thats it, you now have a midi connection to Daslight.

The Matrix app gives up to 64 scene buttons for triggering, all colour coded and labelled.
