New Version - Dated 23rd May 2008

Post by Andre »

Hi all,

Just noticed a new version of DVC2.

It is dated 23rd May 2008 on the Startup splash screen.

Well nothing new as far as I can see :(

Still can't move groups. :(
Cannot colour buttons or groups :(
No new release options for scenes etc :(

Looks like some new fixtures :) but have noticed some have gone :(
It does not look like a new ScanLibrary Editor :(
Still cannot have multiples of R,G,B mixers :( Lots of new RGB fixtures are coming out with multiple channels that require more that one set of RGB mixers. I have listed a possible work around for this in this post.

Must be a bug fix or a tidy up version.

Please Vianney and Yannick, could you please make a post to say what has been changed/fixed/added since the last version. Possibly include a changelog text file with the download.

I don't think you understand how difficult it is to create a piece of software as powerful as Daslight is. There is no point in installing new features until the old ones have been perfected.

Regards.

I think I do as I used to work for IBM and other software comapaines as a software developer/technical engineer, did that for 25 years.
I agree that bugs should be sorted out first, but maybe this software should not have been released when it was as it has a lot of funtionality missing. Could not get away with that while working for IBM or other software companies I worked for. Also we always had to keep changelogs etc. so people could see what had been done.

I am agreeing with you, it is a very expensiv adapter, and you get a (in parts) really good software, but some smaller things, like a good support (changelog eg) are missing, and ican not understand why.

also it is often said that no team member is giving help in the forums, I dont know, am I expecting to much?

maybe the user should get more possibility to take more part in the development of the software, i guess, the user get an very different view on the software and could tell where they have problems.

I think for examples that there could be big improvements of the usability of the software.

maybe there should be an Ideas and a bugs section in the forum.

to make us at least feel integrated in the provess of development.

I hope this is going to be read....

I have read it.

I agree, there should be an ideas forum.

Bugs are already reported in the relevant sections, and Daslight should respond to them as soon as possible before people start moaning too much that nothing is done. That looks really bad in a forum. i.e. Daslight should contact the person via e-mail and sort the problem out outside of the forum, then Daslight and/or the user can report back on the forum what was done to resolve the bug/problem.

Could do with some moderators on the forum as well.

Would like to see a forum to enable users to upload fixture files they have created.

I know Daslight is a very small team which can cause things to seem to take a long time to achieve.

Changelog would be very useful, also a proper version number as how can you tell if they have released a new version within the same month.
Also keep at least 3 versions available on the website for download.
Online manuals need updating/finishing.

New tutorials for DVC2, Scanlibrary and Virtual Simulator would be most welcome. I might start another DVC2 tutorial and also do a tutorial for the Virtual Simulator at the same time. Not promising anything though. What would be best, PDF with possible video download, website with online video? That is if I was to do videos.
