I’ve been a Daslight user for a few years now, and I wanted to take a moment to say goodbye to this community.
What originally drew me to Daslight was its ease of use, clean and minimal interface, and the fact that it worked on both macOS and Windows – a huge plus for someone like me who works across both platforms. It was perfect for smaller gigs, and I really enjoyed the simplicity and efficiency of the workflow.
However, over time, the limitations became more and more frustrating. The 128 DMX channel cap, despite having paid 180€ for a hardware interface, always felt unnecessarily restrictive. Not only did that investment not grant access to the full version of the software (including Daslight 5), but it also didn't provide access to the full 512 channels – which seems like a basic expectation at this price point.
I’ve never been an overly active forum member, but I’ve always followed the conversations, solutions, and shared experiences closely. I was there at the start of Daslight 5, using it from the early days – bugs, crashes and all – hoping that the growing pains would lead to something stronger and more user-focused. Unfortunately, the direction the company has taken – putting core features like full DMX output, Art-Net support, and even basic usability upgrades behind additional paywalls – feels like a step in the wrong direction. €30 for an extra 128 channels, €30 for full software access… all on top of the original hardware cost. And yet, no gesture or reward for early adopters who supported the software through its rocky launch.
It’s disheartening.
So, I’ve made the (not so easy) decision to move on. I've recently transitioned to Avolites, a name many of you here will recognize. It’s not as immediately intuitive, and it does demand more time to learn, but with a single 200-something euro dongle, I now have access to a full-featured, industry-standard software environment – no channel limits, no paywalls.
It’s sad because Daslight could have been a truly competitive and accessible option in this space. But the current approach has made it hard for me to continue justifying its use.

Thanks to the community for the insights and shared knowledge over the years. Wishing you all great shows and smooth programming.
Goodbye Daslight.
