Hardware Question - Expandable?

I am relatively new to lighting systems so bare with me.

My school used to run Daslight 3 with a DVC 3 box, we now use a different system from a different brand, but it doesn't have some of the features that Daslight 5 has.

Looking into upgrades, we were hoping to use the DVC fun for Daslight 5.

Unfortunately, I am not understanding if it will fit our needs or not. It says that it does 128 DMX out, We have lights that are addressed to about 350. This means that the base DVC Fun will not work for us. BUT, it says expandable up to 512. How does the expandable system work, and will it work for my situation?

I apologize if anything is confusing, I just need to make sure the schools tech budget gets used properly and without waste.

This upgrade technology works with a Licence system. Once you have your DMX device registered, you can go on https://store.dmxsoft.com/en/my_interfaces , log in with the same account and add the licences you need.
