Very jerky tilt movements on Chauvet Intimidator Scan 360
Just bought 4 of these scanners for my setup... the tilt movements are really jerky and not smooth, regardless of whether I use the channel slider or the fx generator feature. Pan function works fine. This is really poor for the slower scanner movements and makes a £400 scanner fixture look rubbish.
If I put the lights sound to light on a slow built-in show the tilt works smoothly, if I also control the light manually without dmx by using the built-in menus the tilt function is also fine. These scanners are very smooth when used manually or sound to light.
I've tried about 6 different profiles plus the one that I was sent by Daslight support they are all the same. I also used to own MYDMX3.0 so had a look at the fixture profile using the Scan LIbrary tool, I noticed that all these profiles are set to the wrong pan and tilt range. Pan is set to have a 360-degree range and Tilt is listed as 220 degrees. According to the manual and the website https://www.chauvetdj.com/products/inti ... -scan-360/ the Pan range is 172 degrees and Tilt is 39 degrees.
This is further confused by the fact that when I downloaded the ShowXpress Profile on the website to have a look as it's a text document, it lists the Pan as 120 degrees and Tilt as 90 degrees.
I created copies of the profile that was sent to me and edited each one Pan/Tilt values based on what I've put above from various sources in the MYDMX3.0 Scan Library Tool which made a slight difference perhaps but very little. It's still jerky and jittery, I've tried different cables and even tried in MYDMX3.0 and it's exactly the same.
There are a number of profiles for this fixture within the library, many of which are a mess and didn't work properly so unsure why so many dodgy profiles. To reiterate I have used the one that was sent to me by Daslight support and made several copies edited this one. Have even messed around trying different cables etc and no difference.
Other people using this fixture with other software and devices are not seeing these issues.

Hello, there may be a manual that describes the exact pan and tilt angle for your device. You can then change this yourself in the Scan Library Editor. Is your device running on 8 bit or 16 bit? The 8 bit often jerked when driving slowly.

The motors are 8 bit, but can be ran at 16 bit. I've been told this by Chauvet tech support themselves today. The pan is working fine it's the tilt that is the issue. Even if I flip the pan and tilt so tilt becomes pan etc, that same motor does the same so then the pan becomes the issue.

How do we test in 16 bit? There is a channel 3 and this gives very smooth tilt however Channel 3 doesn't seem refined though, it is either minimum at 1% where it becomes very smooth, but doesn't complete the full movement range or anything above say 10% is full fast speed.

Re: Very jerky tilt movements on Chauvet Intimidator Scan 360

This has turned out to be a firmware issue within the scanners themselves. Chauvet are investigating at present.

I still have the issue on claypak, elation, and chauvets
