Lag During Scene Change

I've been noticing an issue where the whole file will lag when I change between scene tabs with fade times.

For an example, when I change my moving head position, the pixel map starts to stutter and the moving heads sort of inch into position, then speed up to catch up with the oscillator. I've experienced this with a number of different fixtures and showfiles, so I'm pretty sure this isn't an issue with the instruments.

It seems like the output struggles to keep up with the software. The software only uses .5-1.5% cpu on a MBP M1 Max and doesn't lag, but I have the controller connected through an unpowered USB-C hub.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue?
