Fade Out / Fade In

Hello everyone
I have a question about fade out and fade in. The case is that I want to make that when a song is about to end it will decrease its volume to make room for the next song that enters, which instead will be gaining volume.
When I configure the fade out parameters, it is like a cut, there is no fade anywhere.
How can I do it?
