I have totally forgotton how to do this.

I have set all my scanners to have the shutter closed and assigned all the shutters to a new scene button with a 3 second fade time and a 2 second fade out (of scene) the scene is set to one loop with pause.

remind me how do I control speed of fade out?
the speed slider controls the fade in ok, but fade out this method is only set by the 2 seconds editor screen fade out.
