DVC2 Sound to Light - workaround - this works ok

Post by Ryger1 »

It works ok - try it out.
You have to run the interface PC connected and use LIVE mode. Then it is a process of several simple bits.
IT ONLY OPERATES WITH BPM ANALYSIS SCREEN OPEN.

In LIVE screen right click on the scene that you want to trigger sound to light and select BPM to STEP.
This will make the scene move through the steps each time a BPM beat is picked up. Thus triggering a parcan chase sequence etc.

The part that provides the source for the sound is -
Your laptop microphone (make sure it is switched on in laptop volume settings) or PC sound input.
If you are using a line input just run a lead from a booth/secondary output on your mixer etc.

When you select the BPM analyser this will give you the options available.
FIRST set the sensitivity by clicking on Auto below the ladder mimic and change this to manual - then rotate the dial to alter the sound pickup sensitivity.

THEN click on Auto below the slider and set this to manual - now raise or lower the red line until it hits the sound peaks at a suitable point.

The way it works is a bit like a TAP button on a conventional desk.
So using the settings available you can choose to accept the initial few triggers as the constant for the rest of the chase and it will keep to a down beat etc.

A bit of a pain is the way the BPM screen minimises everytime you select another LIVE scene but just pop it back up again to set the sensitivity.
