Just saw a new mini computer yesterday within my budget, but the machine comes with linux operating system, question will Daslight run on this system.

NO...
Don't even think about running it, totally different OS.
Don't even think about paying for VMWare or something similar to run Windows as a program as it will just give you more headaches.

Shame it isnt Linux compatible... it would be soo handy to have one of the little 7" laptops just for Daslight!

I suspect you could install windows XP in a dual boot scenario, maybe.
