Have i got a faulty DVC2?

:) Hi all
I'm on a quest to find out why my new VC2 program with DVC2 interface, running on a vista OS laptop just keeps locking up, (in live mode) i'm now trying to emininate the DVC2 interface from the equation.
What should be displayed on the DVC2 when you plug into a USB port and you HAVN'T opened up the VC2 software.
Mine displays '0F' and the after lauching the VC2 it displays 'PC'.
Does all that look all right?
