DMX input?

Post by rewbycraft »

Hello all!

At my school I'm part of the radio club, we do various things.
One of these things is the audio and lighting for various school productions.
Until now we were using a 24 ch leprechaun lighting desk with 1 12 ch dimmer and 2 6 ch dimmers (with an matching amount of par64s).
However we also have 2 1 ch dimmers laying around as well as a dmx-controllable smoke machine, strobe, 2 scanners and disco ball.
Previously we needed to give up dimmer channels (and thus pars) in order to use these.
After gathering funds we managed to get enough for a daslight gold.
We wanted the gold in order to be able to patch through certain channels to the old board (like smoke and such) and be able to control the scenes with the old board.

So far I've been able to get output working just fine (and I just love the things I can do with the scenes and fx generator).
Input on the other hand doesn't work.
For now I'm just trying to simply patch through a channel to the lighting desk (although I want to be able to use DMX triggering as well).

The steps I've tried are as follows:
1. go to tools->interface and set the 2nd output to input
2. Add fixtures
3. Right click the "Auto" on the channel and select "DMX"
4. Select universe 2 in the input tab and click "straight patch"
5. Click OK
6. Go to the "Live" tab and try manipulating the channel
7. Be disappointed at the lack of action on the output side.

Can anybody help me please?

I always set the DMX input on universe 1, maybe this helps?
