has any any ideas for creating a profile for the different modes of these batterns

e.g. mode 1 - 48 channel mode to control all 8 sections on there own
mode 2 - 24 channel mode to control 4 sections (2 sections as 1)
mode 3 - 12 channel mode to control 2 sections (4 sections as 1)
mode 4 - 6 channel mode (this is the standard one)

hope this makes sence.

You would have to create seperate profiles for each mode.
For example the Showtec/PHANTOM SPOT HTI-150 has 4 modes and each has it's own profile.
I had to do this for some Martin SCX-700 in mode 2 as there was only a profile for mode 1.
After I did that I actually realised that mode 1 was what I really needed.
It was good practise, using the ScanLibrary Editor.

Some software you have to ask for profiles to be created and somethimes that can take ages to get the fixture profile you want, at least not with the DaslighT software :)
