DMX-In and Fades Question

Post by Bootjam »

Hello
I'm a german Daslight user, and a happy one, too.

But I have two questions:

- I used DVC 1 for easy programming with an external desk an dmx-in.
It works very fine. Do the DVC 2 and DVC 3 versions haven't a function like that?
It was so easy to press Import DMX-Values in Editor Mode and than I could programm and edit in Daslight.

- I want to Import a File from DVC 2 into DVC 3.
The fades appears on the time-bar and also on the Time window on the right.
But it doesn't work in live mode. I have to set on every cue an indviduell fade in and out time for working.
Can I fix it?

Thanks for helping
Tobias

Hello

You can record a DMX input using the DMX recorder. This is the 4th icon along in the Scenes window of the Editor tab

Regarding the fades, I can't reproduce this. Make sure:
-you're using the latest version of the software
-that the Scene Fade checkbox is selected
-that fade is selected on the Live toolbar (to the left of the blackout icon)

Hello.

Thanks for answering :)

The first solution works. If I set the frequenz to 1 or 2 I'll get one or max. a second step in the scene.
It works very fine.

To reproduce the fade-problem:

Open a new DVC file, patch some fixtures and generate a scene with some
stuff. And maybe a fadetime of 5sec.
Save it to a filename like "test.dvc"

Open this with DVC 3 and you will see the 5 sec fade at the "Step-Screen" at the right.

But the Fade in and Fade out times are still at 00. So the scene wont fade, just switch on all the Channels I programmed.

Is it a little help for you?

Which software do you create your first file with, DVC2?
Which fade time do you set? Fade in, fade out, step fade?

Right, DVC 2 last version.

Fadetime 5sec (fade in and out also just avalible on DVC 3)

In DVC 2 Fadetime and Steptime are equal for scenes with one step

Hi. I am also having the problem with the fade. I just updated from the first DVC3 release to the latest DVC3 release. All my shows I reprogrammed from scratch when the first official DVC3 was released, so I am not trying to import or open any DVC2 shows or programming.

I just installed the latest DVC3 release, opened one of my shows, and everything seemed to work fine except for the fade. For example, I have 8 different positions or "looks" with my moving heads. Then I make a copy of each look, and add a fade time to the copied scene, so that I can fade from look to look. Everything is set them same as it was before I updated, and it shows in the Editor tab that there is a fade time set, and the fade button is checked, but when I try to use it in live there is no fade, it just snaps as if there were no fade time set.

Please let me know asap if there is a fix for this, as I will have to go back to the previous DVC3 version if I can't fix it in the next couple days.

Thanks!
