32 and 64 bit

Post by simonB »

The DVC2 Gold interfaces now support Vista 64 bits. If you require 64 bit support please mention this to us at the time of ordering.

If you have a DVC2 Gold 32 bit interface and need 64 bit support please e-mail me with your serial number and proof of purchase with date of purchase.

With interface plugged in start DVC2 and then goto the Tools>Interface menu, this will display your serial number.

Mine also has a sticker with the serial number on the circuit board, visible from underneath the interface.

Just to clarify, a 32 bit interface needs modification in order to function correctly under win7 or Vista 64 bit? Additionally, once this modification is made, can the interface subsequently be used on a 32 bit machine?

32 bit interfaces need replacing completely with a 64 bit compatible product. 64 bit products are compatible with both 32 and 64 bit systems

Simon,

This all is a bit 'chinese' for me...
I have a 1024 gold now for 2 years so i suppose this is 32 bit.
What advantage will this 64 bit have. When is it best to change? When i go to Windows7 do i get problemms?

And are there costs involved and how will the change be performed.

Tahnks

The old product was 32 bit compatible because it was designed before 64 bit operating systems were around. The new product supports 64bit.

Yes, we started selling the new product about 1 year ago.

What advantage will this 64 bit have?

For our products, nothing. They just work on 64 bit operating systems now. However, the new GOLD interface has several other features:
1. The ability to change the DMX refresh rate
2. A larger stand alone memory
3. A single mini USB connector so the interface can be powered from a typical USB plug adapter

When is it best to change?

When you want a 64 bit operating system

If it is 64 bit, yes. If it is 32 bit, no.

Yes, see the upgrades table on the prices page. E-mail me your serial and address if you want to upgrade and I will set up an upgrade and RMA on your user account and give you a returns address.
