Move to black

Post by performance stage »

Guys, is there ANY way you could add something to the program on the next build??? Now there is no move to black or "move while black" feature. This has GOT to change if Das wants to move into serious moving light show production! The fact that every time a scene is "deselected" the lights move immediately at full speed back to home, and most of the time the shutters are open (or in the process of closing) so you get a really ugly effect . Of course, you can program a blackout scene, and that's fine. But you need to do that for each scene or "set" of palettes, focus points, etc. Can everyone please discuss how they set up a series of moving light looks and the technique that's used for cross fading smoothly between looks...the "fade" function in the program will cause the gobo wheels and shutter to also move slowly, creating an even stranger look! Help!

Move when dark.
OK here's one option, in a seperate group which you start at the beginning of your show, create a scene with default positions, ie all facing front and down with shutters closed.
in your working group put a fade out (editor page top of scenes ribon option) at the end of your scenes of say 2 seconds. make sure the fade box is ticked.
Now your lights will fade to the blackout position.

Sure it's a work around , but it stops lights whizzing around at the end of a scene.

Hi Simon, yes it would be a good feature, but having worked with MQ the way they do it is to sense which lights in the current scene have shutters/dimmers closed, then thay can be positioned and col / gobo readied for the next scene.
As MQ works on an IPBC palett system, this works, not quite sure how Daslight would impliment this, with DVC3 you now have the shutter chanel overridable by the scene fader and the master fader, but DVC2 does not have this function, however this is in the SSL2 files as an option.
Regards Richard.
